This page explains how to delete your account in the TarotLingo app, and how to request deletion of the data associated with it.
Option 1: Delete your account in the app
If you still have TarotLingo installed, you can delete your account yourself:
- Open the TarotLingo app and go to the Settings tab.
- Under Account Settings, tap Manage Account.
- Scroll to Account Actions and tap Delete Account.
- Choose a reason, then tap Delete My Account.
- Sign in once more when prompted. This confirms it's really you before anything is deleted.
Your sign-in credentials and profile are removed immediately. The rest of your data is removed on the timeline described below.
Option 2: Request deletion by email
You do not need the app installed to request deletion. Email us and we'll handle it for you:
- Email hi@tarotlingo.com with the subject “Delete my TarotLingo account”.
- Send it from the email address associated with your TarotLingo account, or tell us which address and sign-in method (Apple or Google) you used.
- Tell us whether you want your entire account deleted, or only specific data removed (for example, your saved readings) while keeping your account.
We'll confirm your identity, complete the request, and email you when it's done.
Deleting some of your data without deleting your account
You can delete individual saved readings and journal entries from the Journal tab, and delete custom spreads you created, at any time — your account stays active. For anything else, use the email option above.
What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, we remove:
- Your sign-in credentials and account record (email address and authentication provider)
- Your profile: display name, username, and birthday
- Your saved readings, journal entries, and reading notes, including any questions you wrote
- Custom spreads you created
- Your in-app preferences and learning progress
What we keep, and for how long
- Purchase and subscription records. Transaction records are retained for up to 7 years where required for tax, accounting, and audit purposes. Your subscription itself is managed by Apple or Google — see “Your subscription” below.
- Aggregated and anonymized data. Usage statistics that cannot be linked back to you or your device may be retained indefinitely.
- Records we are legally required to keep, such as those needed to resolve disputes or comply with a legal obligation, for as long as the law requires.
- Backups. Deleted data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before those backups expire.
How long deletion takes
We complete deletion requests within 30 days. Encrypted backups containing your data expire within 90 days.
Your subscription
Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, and you need to cancel yours through the store you purchased it from — in the Google Play Store under Payments & subscriptions, or in iOS Settings under your Apple Account. Cancel before deleting your account so you aren't charged again.
Deletion is permanent
Once your account is deleted, your readings, journal, and progress cannot be recovered. Signing up again with the same email creates a new, empty account.
